stalls at stops 700 85

the car is an '85 740 GLE, latetly it has been stalling and sometimes dying at stop lights/signs, the car works fine while running and idles well in "Park". When it stalls, pressing the gas pedal has no effect, almost like it was out of gas. The wiring harness was corroded so I replaced it, also replaced plugs and ingnition cap and rotor, the fuel pump and filter are less than a year old, new air filter. Timing also checked and is good. Any thoughts?
