Your problem sounds similar to the one I had. Let me describe my problem and the solution, and perhaps something will click.
I could start my car, but almost immediately it would quit. It seemed like it was choking—not enough fuel, not enough air. I replaced the distributor cap, rotor, the spark plug wires, and the air filter. Nothing helped.
I unplugged the AMM, and it started, but it bucked and idled incredibly rough for about 1 minute at a time, then it cut out. During this time, if I applied gas, it would cut off immediately. When I plugged the AMM back in, it would start and then immediately cut off (same as the original problem). I replaced the AMM and it runs like new. I got a used AMM for about $40 on Ebay. I’m not sure if this is the same as your problem, but it sounds similar. Maybe one of the more experienced guys will ad some insight.
