700s are fully adjustable (front end) and anyone who says otherwise simply just doesn't know their facts.
You do NOT have to do an alignment if ball joints ONLY are replaced, assuming that everything else is OK and that the alignment was right to begin with.
Besides toe, camber is very adjustable by removing the front upper strut bolt (stud), moving the upper mount until the camber is where it should be and then re-drilling a new bolt hole in the upper strut plate (described in detail in the OEM Volvo manual in case anyone has doubts here).
Caster is also "adjustable" (although rare) if need be by replacing parts (not sure of the parts real name at this moment but it's also described in the OEM manual).
My old 700 goes perfectly straight, no abnormal tire wear ever. I have camber set as far negative (within specs) as possible and both sides are equal (same per side).
