I just purchased a pristine 1980 240DL (see baby pics) and I love the car. it's a 4 speed, 4cyl, with low miles. However, the possible combinations of being a young male, wanting more power, and having something a little different have me thinking. I've heard stories about people cramming ford, chevy, and even oldsmobile V8's into their volvos, and I am curious. It seems like a huge undertaking and i'd like to find out more. What kind of work am i looking at besides the engine swap? New tranny, radiator, springs & struts, engine mounts, tranny tunnel mods, fuel sending unit mods, etc. What engines will fit under the hood? How do i go about finding them? What are the costs involved? who can do this kind of mod? (i live in a large apt. and the police might get upset if i rip out my engine in the park accross the street).

I'd like to someday tell stories of people who laughed at the stop lights until they saw my taillights.
