Just did so myself on my 164. Sprayed the block (and engine bay/hood, due to previous spray from the filler cap and cover gasket) with degreaser, some no-name greenish stuff. Gunk works better but smells worse. Then I had a party with a pressure washer. Started up just fine. First time I did that to this engine (about a year ago) it didn't, which provided a good impetus to fix anything unreliable.
