If it was an ignition problem it is most likely to occur under heavy load. It doesn't sound like and ignition problem to me. Got to the 700/900 FAQ. Clean the idle air motor. Set the basic idle speed. Set the idle mixture using the Volvo LED tool (or make one as shown at the MVP site). Check the resistance of the Cooant Temperature Sensor.
