This is just an idea, but...

It sounds as though something in the driver's door lock is hanging up, such that when you lock (or maybe unlock) the doors, the current continues to flow to the slave locks (the other doors) until they die from overheating.

Come to think of it, there may be a relay involved which is hanging up, rather than the driver's door lock.
