I don't understand why everyone thinks that a bump on the frame subjects the car to never being right again. Half the cars that come straight from the frame shop drive better than they probably have in a long time.
I think that a lot of people still think that cars behave like the days of body-on-frame cars. When some of those cars took a really good hit, it was harder to put them back together the same way. If that was still the case, half the cars on the road should be rolled straight to the crusher. Almost every hit aside from surface scratches (especially on the newest cars) needs frame alignment these days.
Using the same arguement, hitting a big pothole could make your front end never drive right either, even after it was realigned.
