I have been pondering a high compression low boost turbo.
I know there a lot of "bolt-on" turbos for 4 cylinders Volkswagen.
I remember an article in European Car (wish i kept all my back issues) where a "bolt-on" turbo was added to a 4 cylinder gasoline engine and part of the modifications too handle the turbo boost was sandwiching two head gaskets together.
Is this a common procedure?
Hell, will it work ?
Has anyone done it on a B21/B23/230 engine ?
I drove a turbo 1992 740 Turbo yesterday and the lag is awful...but its a joy once the turbo kicks in!
I was wondering could a normally aspirated engine be bolted in and stock boost ran with adjustments made to fuel systems to avoid detonation ???
Can anyone calculate the numbers (compression) on a NA B230F pushing 8-10 psi boost ?
Thanks
