Re: Fuel Pump problems 700 1990

Don's suggestions are excellent. I must add that on your vintage car the fuel injection relay gets its power from terminal 30 of the ignition switch via the fuse box. The ECU gets its power from terminal 30 of the fuel injection relay where the wires are siamesed(I think). From the wiring diagram it appears the ECU controls the fuel injection relay by grounding terminal 86/1 of the FI relay. The power to the fuel pumps splits at connector E at the left A-post. You need a wiring diagram if you are going to trouble shoot this yourself. Message me if you want one.

Your car will run if the in tank pump fails, but it will stop if the main pump quits.

On your vintage car the main fuel pump is grounded in the Central Electrical Unit. Connector L is also there which connects both power and ground to the main fuel pump.

The pink wire is power and the black wire is ground at the main fuel pump.
