Re: NOW the Brickboard is perfect!

Thanks for all of your posts.

I checked the Idiot lights with the ignition key on the "on" position (motor "off") and found that all the bottom row lights light up except for the "Lambda-Sond" , the turbo "overpressure" light and the glow plug light(?)..(for deisels, I suppose). My red alternator light (looks like a battery) IS illuminated, also.

Checking the gray connector (the one right below the oil dipstick near the firewall having around eight or so wires going into and out of it) I find a healthy supply of "electrical tape" applied to the lower portion of the wiring, under the plug connector. Don't you love to see that? It appears that the gray plug connector is intact, but that some poor soul had "reinforced" the lower "loom" of wire with the tape. The plug itself is a little dirty, too. Fortunately, it seems that this is the only place on my car you will find electrical tape.

Before venturing back to "German Car" tomorrow, I will see if I can unplug the grey connector, clean it with electrical cleaner spray and a rag, dry it thouroughly, and look for bad connections. After this, I will use the motor in my BMW to briefly charge the dead battery in the Volvo and start her up. Then, I will use my multimeter to check the alternator output (by running one wire to the + battery post and one to the -, after I double check my Bentley manual to make sure this is corrrect) with the motor running and the motor off. Right now, even though the battery is only 6 mo. old, I will check the water level. If I have no success, my next trip will be back to "German Car" to ask my friend what the heck is going on.

If anybody has any other advise, PLEASE let me know!

-Ted (Bundy) Y.
