Make sure the alternator belt is tight enough. I had one do the exact same thing, and with no squealing from the belt. Just for the heck of it I tightened the belt a little and bingo....back to normal. I'm told a heavily burdened alternator (like driving at night with headlights on, heater fan blowing, seat heaters on, etc.) can consume three horsepower.....or more?? That pulley damper problem is an interesting on I didn't know about before reading this BBS the last couple days. Maybe you can chalk an aligning mark across both pieces and the run the car with a bunch of electrical load and see if the marks move.
