Re: buying a wagon with problems - help 700 1988

We have a 1988 Volvo 740 GLE non-turbo wagon and we love it. It has had some normal ware out items like the window relay, overdrive relay, and the coolant temp sender. I replaced them myself and the cost wasn't that bad, just by from the dealer and stay away from after market products, they simply aren't as good. I did have the front ball joints replaced, this is common by vurtue of the design. This model has a lot of power , regular gas , 4 cly, ohc, 8 valves, you know the basic B230F engine. It is comfortable and good on gas, about 18 city, 26 hwy. disc brakes all around, leather interior, power locks and of course the best as far as crash safty. The 240's are ok but the rid is hard to take on a trip . If you are confident in your machanical abilities then go ahead and buy the 740 wagon if not and you will pay for all labor repairs then you better have lots of money. Good luck Dan Metz.
