I went out this morning to remove the switch so that I could operate it manually and drive the car to a locksmith.

Oddly enough, once I removed the switch, I can NOW insert thr key!!?? I must be dealing with a security feature I do not understand.

I can start the car manually but the switch still does not recover gracefully from position III to position II. It looks like my "repair" job was not successful.

My plan now it to buy a new switch and install it WITH THE KEY INSERTED.

Any comments or suggestions will be appreciated.
