Re: Strut Problem 700 1988

The strut cartridge is retained in its cylinder with a donut-shaped bushing (has a hole in the center and is threaded on the outside) that screws into the cylinder. It can loosen due to vibration and shocks, and this will allow the cartridge to "bounce" in the cylinder because it isn't holding the cartridge down. I'm embarrassed to admit that I know this by experience. Anyway, lift the rubber dust boot around this bushing (the boot sits inside the spring) and see if it is loose. The bushing has slots in its edge and should be tightened with a spanner wrench.
