I'm not sure what procedure you're using on your 240, but setting the timing is pretty much the same between the two.

Depending on one thing and another, I've used ~10 to ~25 degrees BTDC, vacuum disconnected, on my B-18s. Factors affectin the setting include compression, wear, crud in the combustion chamber, excessive oil consumption, etc., etc.

Use the most advanced timing you can, short of detonation.
