I'm a mechanic and the first thing I would do is get under the car and do a visual inspection: loose bolts/fasteners, bushings that are visibly in need of replacement, or anything else that looks unusual.
As far as what would cause your problem....I would suspect a bad u-joint. The symptoms you described, especially "occurs when I pull away from a stop", are the classic signs of u-joint failure.
If the u-joints are ok, the next thing that I would check are the torque rod bushes or a loose mounting bolt for the torque rods. If a torque rod bolt was loose it could cause clunk when you pull away from a stop (axle would not be located securely so it would be able to move). However, if this was the case it would most likely also make a noise when you are shifting gears or when load changes on the axle....i.e. putting car into gear, decelerating quickly, etc.
Hope this helps. Regards,
Neal
