Rick,

I'm not positive on any of this info, so nobody hold me to it :). But on my 1988 760T, there is a yellow wire that connects to the speedometer to increase the radio volume as the speed increases to compensate for road noise (that part I am positively certain of, that my car has this feature and setup). What I am not certain of is if that is for the same reason in your car, which is extremely possible. A graphic equalizer, if equipped, would have connected to the radio by means of a din-style plug. Not sure of the other wire you mentioned...
