Replacing Rocker Panels?

I'm getting conflicting word about replacing rusted-out rocker panels on older Volvos.

A local body shop says they'd never touch a thing like that (but 99% of what they see are domestic cars that people throw away at 100K miles).

Other Volvo owners (not in the area) tell me that replacement panels are fairly easy to get and have welded into place.

What's the scoop? Anybody had this done/know a good source for these panels?
