The tube things go in place of the dashpot lids on top of the
vacuum chamber and make it easier to see if both lift the same
amount. Some kits have a wire that goes between them so if it
slopes to front or rear, whichever way it slopes is slower lifting.
I had one and gave it away when I left Texas in 1971. I would not
buy one (the one I had was given to me).
