Coolant temperature sending unit or a wiring problem in between it and the cpu. It would be much easier to fix that than go and modifiy the cpu (trust me)
There are two temp sensors on the car, one towards the front of the engine thats for the temp gauge, and one way in the back under the intake thats for the car itself. if it runs ok after the car has warmed up, its still a temp sending unit.
another halfway fix for this is to take it out of the equation.
My friend did this by bypassing it and running a manual control for the cold-start injector, so now he has a button on his dash that ya hafta push to get the car running(and keep it running)
