Engine washing - yes or no 700 1988

Rick -
You definitely are very careful, but I would never wash a hot engine in general, turbo or not. I would let it cool down as a rule. I washed my 850's engine once several years ago with a very gentle and directed spray from a garden hose. I was super careful, but something got wet that shouldn't have and it didn't start for a good few hours. Never again.

But I too like a clean engine and what I use is a spray bottle with a solution of Simple Green. It is a great biodegradable degreaser that cleans almost everything (great for brake dust too!!). I usually don't spray directly onto the engine, but rather onto a rag and wipe the area down. Good luck.
