black out 700 1989

hi rollers,

my '89 744 GLE w/auto didn't start this morning. First even the lights at the dash didn't come on. after i switched off all the devices, i had left into on position 3 days ago, (headlamp switch, fan, rear demist), it started.

As theres -4 degrees celsius out there i started cleaning windows and let the engine idle. All cleared, i went back in and as i turned the headlight switch to 'on' position, the engine stalled and all the lights and electrics were out. Even central locking didn't work.

Electrical gremlins, but where to start?

urgent help needed.
