Help With Gas Gauge Please

There is a resistance-based sender in the tank that provides the signal for the gas gauge. You can trace this to the dash and measure continuity, etc. at the connector (but you will need a wiring diagram to do so.) An aftermarket gauge is not a good idea since it will not be calibrated correctly and will look like hell.
My gut feeling is that a connector is loose or corroded.
