front end reassembly question 120-130

Well, finally made time to put the front end back together. (new upper and lower ball joints, tie rods and center link ends, bushings)

However I'm stuck at the upper ball joints. Can't get them to slide into the stub axles. I'm thinking of using a propane torch to expand the axle housing but am a little worried about weakening the stub axle.

Anyone have any experience with fussy upper ball joints? Any other "heads up" would be appreciated.
