My son and I did the same thing on a 71 142 except the transmission and drive shaft was from a 72 so we had to change the top cover since it had the short shifter. I guess we were lucky on the pilot bearing issue. You won't have a problem with the clutch using a cable. There is a hole ready for that purpose in the firewall. Just ask if you need more help.
