If you're starting from scratch adjust the rear drums before you adjust the handbrake cable.

Check whether you have a weak hose, get someone to press the pedal whilst you grasp each hose. If you feel it baloon it's new hose time.


Inspect each drum carefully, it is very rare for them to crack but....
