When I did mine, I did the screwdriver method (actually a small crow-bar works better). Before you get started, use a brush and get all that road dirt away from the area, shop vac. all around it and spray it with a lubricant.
When you use the screwdriver, lay the blade on the crown and lightly tap it with a hammer, then move on to a crown almost opposite the one you just did. The Crown nut tends to bind if you just stay with the same crown. Same with reinstall. I used a little Vasaline on the metal and gasket before putting it back together.
