Central Locking System and Key Chime Problems 200

I would check the switch in the driver's door. It's attached to the door lock and controls the switching relays. Note that there's two switches in the door.... one around the key lock, and one attached to the manual plunger.

"...also noted the drivers lock will not push down into lock position with the door open..."

That's normal. Volvo makes you work hard to lock the keys in your car (but it can be done...).

"...don't know where that relay is located..."

The two relays are located up under the dash, dead center, sitting on the wiring harness (or maybe clipped to a metal strut). You should be able to access them by removing the stereo, but you might also get to them by removing the glove box. These metal-cased relays are simple, rugged devices and not likely to fail. But there's always a first time....

"...chime is staying on all the time..."

The chime is connected to different circuits. Be sure your brakelights work. A chime indicates two bad bulbs or a bad (or removed) fuse. You may have sent GF out into the world with no brakelights.

On all my cars I taped over the chime "speaker grill" to muffle it but leave it faintly audible.
