SPEEDOMETER JUMPING 700

I doubt that there is problem in the dash, besides nothing in the dash knows what gear you are in or when it changes. There are no relays.
An AC signal is fed directly from the rear end to the speedo head. I can only think that you have a bad connection at the sender or along the wires somewhere or the clearance between the sender and the impulse wheel is not correct. Did the mechanic check that? The Haynes manual clearly states that it should be checked and adjusted with shims anytime the sender is removed.
