You may want to read my postings and reply below yours on the forum. Sounds like you and I have a similar problem. I have been ready to spend the money but just like the reply above I didn't want to start replacing everything. I still have no idea what has caused my problem, my parts should be in today. New cap, Rotor and Coil wire. Everything was less than 6 months old but electrical stuff is like that. I don't know if it will help you in the diagnosis, but my weird symptom was discovered by accident, I pulled the coil wire off the distributor, left it near the hole and low and behold spark jumped across the gap into the distributor and the car ran!!!!! Hardly the way to cruise around though. I was going down the road of grounding the distributor, hot wiring the coil, grounding the coil etc, etc but I'm going to try replacing these basic parts. Maybe none of this helps but my car is dead at home too, so you're not alone!
Cheers
