I have 145/1973 w/b20f. My car was running then one day a couple of weeks ago, nothing. No start. First I went through the fuel injection replaced, fuel-pump, fuel-filter, cold start injector, fuel-pump relay, cold-start relay, all four fuel injectors (they were leaking fuel), fuel-pressure regulator, thermal switch, pressure-sensor, and cleaned the throttle position pot. -All on the advice of my volvo mechanic, who had serviced the car for years.-and the car started. next morning with accomplishment and happiness I went in the morning to goto work, and the car wouldn't start again. Now what, the fuel injection checks out and there is gas in the combustion chamber and there appears to be spark. Put my timing light on the #1 wire and asked a friend to start the car, nothing happened. no spark was registering when the starter was turning, when we let off the starter the engine started to sputter and there was a spark signal. I replaced the points, dist-cap, rotor, wires, condenser, spark plugs and coil! Same story -Engine will not start with the starter engaged and sputters to stall after the starter is off. I have tried a different battery (with 1000CCA) metered out the power draw from the ignition ,, Basically I can't figure it out. It acts like the engine isn't grounded. I have Plenty of +power going to the coil and the points are gapped and set.Basically Every mechanic that I call for advice thinks that it is something different ,, I have spent over 700$ in parts. now I can't afford to tow the car to a shop and have them fix-it. (note to above, I have directly hotwired the coil and there was no change(we checked the ignition wiring too)) I am left with a possible faulty ground in my distributor. I have to wait till I have money again before I can replace any more parts. If Anyone has experienced this problem or knows the next advisable direction that I should go, I would sure be thankfull---Eric--- Portland, OR.
