Someone wrote this in reference to working on an AC system.

I recently repaired a hose on my AC system, and to charge the system I just added a couple of cans of 134a according to the directions on the kit. It seems to work fine.

Should I have gotten a vacuum and pulled three lbs? And where do I get such a vacuum? And how does it work?
