Overdrive Problem 1985 M-46 700

In looking for car parts I have found entire M-46 tranny with od for about
$200. I'm thinking of buying one and trying the OD on them.
The metal piece I described did come off right when the filter come off, if I'm not mistaken.

When I get assurance of good weather weekend, I need to replace driveline bearing also, so I might try to do both at one time.

I really appreciate you info.
