Electrical Gremlins Banished from 122 .....

Hi Gang ...

Well today we took the chance and installed the other alternator.... the one that had been rewound to put out full charge at lower rpm .... and had been diagnosed as having a "Lamp circuit fault". My buddy had the alternator in his snow ploughing rig and suddenly the volt meter had dropped to zero .. so thinking the alternator had died, he swapped it out planning on having it repaired ... but never got around to it .... soooo we put it in my 122 this afternoon.... FANTASTIC !!! I was expecting the charge light to stay lit considering the UAP test showed a fault in the lamp circuit ... nope .. light went out really quickly ..... voltage at the battery jumped from 13.5 to nearly 15 volts .... my headlights are once again shining brightly .. and to top it all off ... the signal lights now flash nice and briskly ... no matter how much stuff I have running .... another thing I noticed is that now that the coil is getting lots of juice the car actually runs better too BONUS !! I just got back from my first nighttime drive in quite a while where I wasn't sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for the old girl to quit on me .... gotta LOVE those BOSCH H4 headlamps when they have enough juice to run them ....

Happy Camper ...

Brett
