What did you use to try to remove the nut? I assume you soaked it with PB Blaster or Kroil before starting. Even on the tough ones I have been successful using a piece of 3/4" brass rod and a heavy hammer. The brass does not deform the edges of the cutouts on the top of the nut. I work my way around at various points. Impact is what gets things moving in this type of situation rather than brute force.
