Ok-as a follow up to my previous message, the GM alternator I am using on a 72 142 is, according to NAPA auto parts, one used on early 70's to 75 Chevy PU, 350 engine. NAPA number 13-4011. I think they used it on a lot of cars over a lot of years.
To make it work, I drill out the bottom hole to 1/2 inch (hopefully on a drill press) and grind/mill off about 3/32 inch from the back side of the front housing where the said hole is. The small wire nearest to the top when installed goes to the amp light, and the other small wire connects to the big wire terminal along with the big wire.
