You cleaned / replaced a lot of components. Have you checked the ignition components? Plug wires (even if they look good) can intermittently fail. Cracked/dirty distributor cap? Faulty / dirty spark plugs?

If you know someone with a Volvo you could exchange plug wires and see if that helps - or check the wire's resistance with a proper meter. Might be a simple problem to fix without going radical on the harness, etc.
