Curious problems

There is a delay relay on the compressor circuit and I believe your year has a thermostat switch as well and of course the under pressure switch. Have you tried applying 12V direct to the compressor clutch?

Idle Knob counterclockwise increases idle. Why is it adjusted like that? Probably some ham handed, mutton fisted, blind, deaf, know it all "mechanic".
