J-type O/D troubleshooting?

Since this occured after your rebuild, and there are particles of silicone floating around, you may have a few problems all compounding into one.

Reuse the filter. As long as it is not full of holes, it is OK. There is another area where you need that fine filtering.

To correct the problem you will need to remove the solenoid, and the dashpot and springs again. Between the solenoid and the bottom of the dashpot is a metered port. Do not probe with anything. Air needs to be blown through the port from the solenoid side toward the dashpot. This will hopefully dislodge anything that is blocking the return flow of fluid through the port which if blocked will hold the OD ON.

Also, while the dashpot is out, is the relief valve in correctly?? If upside down the valve will not fully open the relief port and partially hold the OD on.

And since the solenoid is off. Shake it. It should sound like a baby's rattle. IF not or "soft" then there is fluid getting past the two small O-rings on the internal piston into the coil area and hydrolocking the piston in the ON position.

IF the springs are damaged, you will know it when you take the dashpot out.
