AT wont shift out of 2nd !!! 700 1987

I had a similar situation on my '89 765t. It wouldn't shift up unless I layed off the gas, or got up to really high RPMs. It was the kickdown cable causing the issue. I'd look there first, but I would also be concerned with it not wanting to go above 2nd.
