AT wont shift out of 2nd !!! 700 1987

i just had a problem with my 89 740 not shifting out of third. i replaced the kickdown cable that needed replacing anyway. when that didn't solve the problem, i found that my overdrive solenoid was bad. after that was replaced, everything was fine.
