Did the shop give you an estimate of how much it would be, or did you leave them with a blank "fix whatever needs fixing" statement? As a rule, I tell the shop what I want done (or what is broken that I can't figure out), they give an estimate, and then call if they find anything else, or if the job will go over the estimate. Every shop I have gone to has done this. If you are happy with the work that was done, and you aren't in the poorhouse because of it, take this as a learning experience and get a written estimate next time you take it in for any work.
