Considering OBDScan for laptop. Comments? S90-V90 1998

I am considering Dan Harrison's OBDScan tool. I searched the archives and found several messages with comments from people succesfully using this device (ISO-9141 version) on their Volvos. Given its reasonable price ($117 shipped) I am surprised that it has not become an "instant hit" among Volvo enthusiasts. It seems to me the tool would pay for itself the first time there is a trouble code. (From my personal experience, three months ago I paid Volvo dealer $85 for reading the trouble code after the "Check the engine" light came on. It was caused by PNP switch and I ended up going to an independent Volvo shop to replace it because dealer wanted to be paid enourmous amount of money for fixing this. I wish I had the scan tool at that time!)

So, why don't people buy this OBDScan tool in bunches? Is there something I don't understand?

OBDScan manual says that I can monitor the freon pressure using this tool. Is that true? If it is true, then I don't need to invest in R134a manifold gauge because I would be able to see "real time" pressure readings from the ECU!
