Hi,
Thanks for all the advices. I already contacted Dave for an used engine harness but currently he has none in stock. He probably will have one in a couples weeks. I found from http://www.importecparts.com/ that the new harness costs
about $262, which is the cheapest I can find from the web. If I couldn't get an used one from Dave in a few weeks, I might just go ahead with the new one.
Some more questions:
1. What else do I need to do/change since most likely I will have to remove the intake manifold? What other parts do I need other than the gasket? Didn't want to get stuck somewhere realizing that I'm missing parts here and there.
2. How long will it takes to remove/reinstall the intake manifold, with engine harness replacement? Do I need to drain anything? I don't have a car garage as I'm staying in an apartment, I will have to borrow a friend's garage to work on it. Hopefully the job will not take more than 1 day. Detail steps will be very helpful.
3. I also noticed that the 4 wires (is it Ignition Wire?) connecting to the top of the engine valve are cracked open too. I am thinking of replacing those as well when I change the engine harness. Any tips on that?
4. The black wire on the alternator is almost completed bare, with some dry, brittle insulator pathetically hanging by the sides. The shop quotes me ~$100 to do the job. After I read this site, I called in and canceled the appointment. How do I go about repairing/replacing that?
I think that's all I can think of right now. Please be a bit more patient with me if I asked any stupid questions, as this will be my first DIY job on a car. Thanks.
Have a great day.
