For sure OHC seems like a way to reduce valve float. However, the B21FT just isn't a very refined engine, and the cam isn't designed for high revving. In fact it makes loads of torque between a bit above 3000 up to 4000 (okay, so I do baby my car a little). While I'm sure it could make it past 6k RPM.. it just sounds awful getting up there.
When I test drove a normally aspirated 740 wagon, I was amazed at how much smoother (and quieter) it felt. Perhaps that was just because of the extra insulation and better motor mounts.. it just didn't feel nearly as rough.
