I sometimes have a problem similiar to yours in my 1985 745t (m46). When I shift into gear from idle I sometimes have to give it some extra gas or it will cough and stutter a little bit. Nothibng serious, but definitely not "optimal" running condition.
I have replaced my FPR within the past 4 months, so I don't think that will make any difference. I also don't think the temp sensor would play a part, since it shouldn't make a lick of difference what that sensor picks up to how the engine is running. I would be more inclined to believe it might be the knock sensor retarding the timing unnecessarily (since it happens more when the car is cold or hasn't been run) or a problem with the distributor?
post the answer if you figure it out, I'd like to hear what you come up with.
