No Start - Good People - Vacation 700 1991

Hello everyone. I hope you all had a good 4th of July Holiday/weekend.

1. I apologize for the length of this post.

2. No Start. I was on my way to the in-laws to pick up luggage I had lent them for their Alaskan Vacation. (They needed a break from the heat here in Houston.) My beloved 91 745 Turbo suddenly lost power and the following warning lights came on in the following sequence: oil, check engine, then all the other light. Fortunately for me, the freeway was not busy on July 4, 2002. I pulled over the side of the road and check the fuses. All were OK. I tried to restart car. It would turn over, but not run. I open up the hood and check battery, starter, and ground connection. All were OK. I tried to restart car. It would turn over, but not run. I pulled the AMM and tried to start the car again. However like the previous two attempts, the car would turn over but not run. I attempted to remove FPR, fuel pump relay, but not knowing this volvo as well as most of you do, I could remember which one it was so my attempt stopped here.

3. Good People. "Lucky" for me, I could see some payphones near some homes on the overpass where I was at. (ie. No cell phone, got to use pay phone.) I walk the half mile in 96 degree heat and found that all the phones cable were cut. I walked over to house, knocked on the door, told the man my problem and he handed me his phone. I called my motor club and requested a tow. They told me it would take at least an hour before someone could come over. I laugh, because usually here in Houston, if you see a wrecked car, there will be at least three wreckers there in minutes of the wreck taking place. Nothing I could do, so I say thank you and started walking to my car. It took me 10 minutes to walk to my car and within another 10 minutes, my wrecker had arrived. It was a Man and Wife team in a flatbed wrecker. Once again my "luck" was holding on. I had to forgotten to request a flatbed and received one anyway. I was told it would take an hour for the wrecker to come, it only took 20 minutes. I help the man load the wagon onto the truck. Just when we were finished, a Texas thunderstorm showed up and droped rain drops the size of peanuts on Houston. We drove to my house. On the way there the man ask me how long I had the car. I told him since November of 2001. He told me these Volvos were made to last like Mercedes were. I told him this is the first time, she has left me stranded. Once we arrived at my house, the rain stopped raining. Luck was still on my side. Wrecker driver help me push the car into the garage. Good people are still out there. This board is full of them.

4. I got into my other car and drove to the inlaws to get my luggage back. I needed to pack for my vacation to Sunny California. I have been in LA and on vacation since Friday night. No time to look at FAQ, or brickboard archives. This can and will wait until the vacation is over. Otherwise the wife is going to kick my ass for "working" while on vacation. She is currently out with her sister getting a spa treatment, so this gave me a chance to get caught up on past brickboard messages. I promised her I would not look at FAQ or the archives so I am not. Got to get back to my vacation now. I got sunburn on Saturday at the Orange County Market Place. My "luck" ran out. I'll be back in Houston this Saturday. Hope my luck returns by then. I hope my problem with wagon is minor.
