I don't even have an interior light, so I covet your's even if it makes noise. Seriously, I believe it is for the climate control system. The hissing you hear is actually your engine's vacuum pulling "new" air past the dry bulb all the time, so it is always getting an accurate feel for air temp.

I have no idea if this HISSING is normal. Seriously I have no interior light.

Maybe the hissing is excessive due to the vacuum hose coming off the sensor?
