You do have a low pressure cutoff for the compressor. When you turn on the AC knob does the clutch engage on the compressor? Does the fan work? Does the control valve cutoff the heater? Need more details. There is a relay located behind the center console with a 5 wire connector (brown, white, green, blue-yellow and red). The blue yellow goes to fuse 12. If the alternator is not charging properly the AC relay will not engage through the blue-yellow wire. Hope this helps.
